UPDATE 10-10-09: Where to park (see Below).

Couldn't go to the 9/12 Rally in Washington DC? Went but want to meet up with your local Patriots? "Operation Can You Hear Us Now?" will take place on October 17th, 2009 to re-create the DC Rally in cities and towns all over our great country.

2 million taxpayers traveled to Washington, D.C. to participate in the largest protest in DC in history, but most media outlets couldn't seem to cover the story correctly, and if they covered the story at all, they grossly underestimated the number of Patriots who feel this country is in trouble.

This time, we will be rallying right outside our local media outlets, where they cannot ignore us! In Rochester, we have decided to rally outside our two of our local media outlets, WHEC-Channel 10 and the Democrat & Chronicle. We will start at NBC, 191 East Avenue, 14604, at 11:00am, rally, and then around 11:30am March down to the D&C, 55 Exchange Blvd, 14614 and rally some more.

Bring your signs and your enthusiasm to this peaceful demonstration!

We've heard that "they" are expecting that us pesky protesters will rally for a few months and then go away. We need to show them that we are NOT GOING AWAY, that we will STAND UP FOR THE AMERICA WE LOVE and for our CONSTITUTION and that we BELIEVE IN FREEDOM and will not let it DIE, and we will continue to protest for as long as it takes - we will not stand by and do nothing while our rights are being trampled on one by one.

October 17th, 2009 will be a great day in American history. Join your fellow Americans in every state in the USA.

NOTE: Since the media seem to focus on the 'Fringe" signs, we are asking that people refrain from signs like "Glenn Beck for President", "This Time we Left Our Guns At Home", etc. so they won't be able to concentrate on people they see as "kooks". Non-violent, realistic signs say so much! and could help to validate us with other regular Americans that are considering joining us.

Where to Park:

At starting point:
-East End Garage, address is 475 E Main, but there is an entrance located on Scio St approx 1/2 block from NBC. I believe this one is free on Saturdays.

Closer to ending point, but really not far from either spot:
-South Ave Garage, 39 Stone St., but entrance on South Ave between Broad & Main - Saturday Max $4.00

Closer to ending point:
-Court St. Garage, 194 Court St., at South Ave & Court; Daily Max $6.75 - not sure about weekend rates.
-Washington Square Garage, 111 Woodbury Blvd. A couple blocks south of Broad near Clinton, I believe this is also free on Saturdays.
There are also several lots in the area.

Thanks to all who helped coordinate Saturdays' event! The lack of press following the event underscores the lack of fair and balanced news coverage. I was disappointed in the turnout, although I'm sure the weather didn't help. Many of the speakers did a great job, however, I think the politician's campaign speeches took us off message and was a complete turn-off to my wife and I, as well as three additional guests that I brought along. Let's try to keep campaigning separate in the future.

Had a wonderful time at the Rally & March. Speakers were great - except I thought the vacine talk was off topic and the politicians plugging for themselves turned a lot of people off. Those topics might be better voiced at a BB meeting. We lost a number of people at D&C, part due to cold, part due to the politicians. Overall, I thought it was great rally - even though we have not gotten the publicity we wanted. A short piece on CH 10 at 11 news but none on 8 or 13 and nothing in Sun D&C.

Just now, Quinn and Rose, a nationally syndicated radio show duo (The War Room, carried locally on WYSL 1040), were discussing media malfeasance with regard to untrue quotes attributed to Rush Limbaugh. I took that opportunity to call in to let them know about "Operation Can You Hear Us Now," and was put on the air. So, our local rally just got some national attention and I was able to publicize why, where and when we're meeting tomorrow.

In order for me to bring other people it would be helpful to know about other stories that the D&C has buried...??? anyone???

I emailed Lisa about this and I feel obligated to post here as well. Channel 10 is not owned by NBC and their Chief Meteorologist, Kevin Williams, is a global warming skeptic. I think it would be a mistake to protest Channel 10. Let's focus the protest on the Democrat and Chronicle, the local media outlet that is obviously leftist slanted, Obama sycophants and have been dishonest in their reporting on our events, including the under-reporting of the Tax Day Rochester Tea Party. I am very disappointed that I will not be able to attend the "Can you hear us now" event on 10/17. Our son will be home for a visit and we have a family function to attend. Count me in for the next event.

Alex, Love your enthusiasm and tech skill but this is just what the MSM needs to show we are kooks. Please consider taking down the video of beating up Obama. Think about the milage NBC can get out of this!!

Ha! "D & C" is quite the apropos name for that 'news organization'!! see, who says Conservatives don't have a sense of humor? It is indeed time that the Press and the Govt get their arrogance checked- they need to respect/fear the wrath of the citizens again and recognize Constitutional Law which they've ignored for far too long. The Statist-Quo has Got To Go!

The D&C and NBC were chosen, in part, due to their proximity to one another and ability to march from one to the other. All of the local media will be invited to cover this protest which is aimed at all of them. We will be reminding them to tell the whole truth, both sides of issues and to start investigating our government officials and not be mouthpieces for their messages. Splitting forces won't provide impact! Our numbers increase daily - Oct 17th will be a day the media WILL HEAR US NOW!

I'm excited to stand with all of you once again! I said that I would be bringing 1 other person with me (my sister) well guess what - we are up to 10 - I will continue to ask everyone I know to join us. We all surprised ourselves with the numbers in DC - let's see if we can do again in Rochester. LisaG thanks so much for doing the organizing !

I would like to see each TV station with peopel and signs outside, becaue it isn't just one station, it is all of them. Will 95 people at NBC tell ABC or CBS anything? Just asking is any one else feels this way. I don't believe the D&C has any weekend help since their last lay-off. Just the basic crew to run the presses.

I put out the word of this on RochesterConservative.com to see if we can bolster the numbers and join you all. Where would be a good place to have it? Our only daily newspaper, the Democrat and Chronicle is so obviously biased for leftist causes and is definitely a member of Obama's State Sponsored Media. The thing is, on Saturday would anybody be downtown or in their offices at the D&C to even notice?

Yes I'm excited - I'll be more excited when I know something more concrete. I'm ready to go after the media - I've been upset about the bias ever since I began to understand it in the eighties. I hear a southern group is planning to "visit" CNN in Atlanta.

I have said all along we need to boycott, not only the media, but any business that supports the communist. HIT them where it hurts, their wallets. We need to start now and continue until they all fold. Go read a book turn the tv off. We need to become self sufficient until the corporations fold. We need to shut commerce down for a few days.

Oh yeah, We should hit NBC. Def NBC...we all know they are the most liberal...not to mention the most idiotic..."news" station. If you ever watch Rachel Maddow on CNBC...that "woman" makes me sick.

Who attended?

  • 202 attendees
    •  A good, enthusiastic crowd at first. It seemed to dwindle both in numbers and excitement after marching to the D&C.
    • Nora Kiefer (+4 guests)
It was a wonderful experience to share with other like-minded people. The speeches were factual and informative. I truly feel that people are being educated when they come to this type of rally.
    •  I wish there had been more participants, but the speakers were great and the people rallying kind.
    •  it could've been better, im sure the weather had something to do with the turnout
    • Lizzie (+4 guests)
I thought Operation "Can You Hear Us Now?" was an excellent experience. We certainly got peoples attention, almost all positive. A lot of people honked their approval as they went by. I was proud to be a part of it.
    •  The biggest problem was 1. The sound system 2. there were only a couple of speakers that moved me. That criticism may be partly the fault of problem # 1. However sound system aside ther were only a few speakers who were able to create emotion and excitement with the delivery of their messages. Who were they? if you were there you know who they were. That is the end of my comments on the subject of speakers. It was a well organized event and I was pleased be invited to participate.
    •  As in DC, there were great people there. I would like to have copies of some of the speeches. I could use many of the points in each one to further our cause.
    •  I thought it was good. We have our signs and we have voices. At another rally, I think chanting makes us feel we are another part of the whole thing. I got lost in some of the longer speeches ( probably only three minutes ). They were well prepared. I guess I'm just one person who likes things said briefly and not completely read! The music and the drums helped a great deal. It gave a patriotic spirit. I am always impressed at the prayer part. Congratulations to WE SURROUND ROCHESTER.
    •  I liked the prayers, the speeches, the chanting and the march. I would have liked more music. Also the time frame stretched too long I felt. I thought we were supposed to be about 1/2 hr at each location? I had to leave before things were finished at the Dem. & Chron. I think we have too many different messages on the signs which may weaken the message we are sending. I saw a few posters on the electricity/wind power bill (I am not familiar with that and would like more info. on it), one on right to keep a gun, some on health bill, as well as appropriate ones on media and truth. It would be nice if some on message signs could be provided for us newbies until we can get into the sign making loop. I will come to more rallys.

Flawless organization and planning- great job, everyone!
    •  The event was satisfactorily organized and advertised. Well done.

I attended with my husband and 13 year old son. What an education he received...explanations in the car ride to and from Rochester and then the event itself. This group means business, and also are the nicest bunch of folk around. I see Channel 10 reported the event on line. I didn't see it anywhere else. With our very eminent attack on Free Speech , I think we will be doing a lot more of this. Awesome time, thank you to all who helped put this together. I know it takes a tremendous amount of time and energy. You're the best! Teresa
    • Stephen Ryan (+3 guests)
I THINK that the protest went great and Paul an the crew did a great job,got there a bit late but the news couldn"t have missed them we will see tonight at 6 't have missed them
    •  My only suggestion was that the speakers needed to be louder.
    •  The turnout was a little disappointing, but the speakers were great (other than the PA system) and it was a great chance to reconnect with patriots from the DC march on 912. WHAM 13 TV was the only news camera in sight, by the way!
    •  Several of the speakers were excellent and well prepared. On such a cold day we lost quite a few attendees during the walk to the D & C or shortly after. I'd rather not have campaign speeches at our events. Speaker need to keep to the issues and focus of the rally. If they need speak to our issues, after their speech it could be a "by the way, I'm running on these principles" as a close to their speech.
    • Wendy Ann (+3 guests)
Wished the turnout had been higher. Unfortunate that the sound system didn't cooperate & we had to depend on a bull horn. But we were there & visible & had our say. Keep up the pressure, Patriots!
    • Lee G. (+1 guest)
I'm not a great judge of how many people there were, but I would say at least a 100 maybe more. There were some very good speakers, but you could also tell that there were a few that may have never spoke in public before, and should not only be commended for giving it a try, but like the rest for showing up on not the best of weather days on a Saturday. To those that organized this, thank you, your efforts are very much appreciated!!!
    • Lynn Wright (+1 guest)
I personally thought it went great. But as I watched the coverage of it (or lack of) on Channel 10 Rochester's NBC news, I must have blinked. We got pre-empted @ 3-5 seconds by "Sonic" commercial. I count that a loss for NBC. Not 9/12er's.
    •  I was so glad that the rain held off and although it was chilly out, it was dry! That rallies were both great with good speakers at each location. It was unfortunate that the PA system didn't have the right outputs and it was great that someone brought that bullhorn. The march was fun, especially on East Ave. RV
    •  After being in Washington in September, it seemed a little anemic in attendance. It just shows how much work we have to do to inspirer others to take a stand and do something about it. Speakers were good, prayer was excellant, although, the political campaining at this event, I'm not so sure that this was the correct time for it. I heard a few grumbling about it. The event was well cordinated and conducted. The organizers did a good job. I'm glad my wife and I were there.
    •  I always feel better for a while after I attend a rally. It makes me feel like we are doing something. It felt particularly good to let the media know that we are aware that they are not doing their jobs.
    • no more (+1 guest)
Good speakers and people in attendance but the anemic crowd undercuts the message and does not encourage others to join in. Everyone needs to take responsibility to bring friends who in turn bring friends etc.
    • Tom McEwen (+3 guests)
Four of us in our 70's and 80's felt absolutely safe with this group of good people. The police were pleased that no one caused any problems also. Next time bring more people. Ask your neighbors if they are happy with Washington, than ask them to come to a rally. TALK TO PEOPLE!!
    •  It was peaceful and some good points were made. I just wish that more people would show up. Support is key to getting the message out there.
    •  I LOVED THIS MEET UP. THE SPEAKERS WERE ALL GOOD AND INSPIRATIONAL. I THINK THAT THE AVERAGE AMERICAN THAT PASTED BY ON THE STREETS WERE MORE FOR US THAN AGAINST US AND IT IS SO GOOD TO BE OUT THERE IN THE PUBLIC EYE SO THAT OTHERS CAN SEE THEIR IS A VOICE OF OUTCRY TO OUR GOVERNMENT. THANKS TO ALL THE GREAT SPEAKERS AND ORGANIZERS
    •  I have been anxiously awaiting the opportunity to participate with this group [and am also hopeful we can reach out to all groups throughout our great state] and was thrilled with the outcome! Great job by all who helped to put this event together! It was great meeting with all of you today and I hope this is only the beginning of our "connection". We all need each other in this fight to regain our America. Let's get going and move "them" out...time to stand up,stand strong and never back down!!
    • Patty Turner (+1 guest)
Although I was late (stuck on call for work) the other 9 of my party did make it there. They said that they were disappointed that there was not a bigger turn out. Also, I was told that there was news people there taking pictures and filming but we never saw anything onthe news or in the paper. Did anyone see any reports on the protest?
    •  I wish more people had come.
    •  We had an excellent experience and met alot of great people to network with.
    • Deb
Thought we'd see more folks there, but we that were, were loud and passionate. We were also very law abiding!
    •  I attended this meetup and was surprised that we had future politicians there speaking about their campaigns. I thought the message was primarily about media and their biases concerning the obama administration. I was disappointed that we lost people from one location to another. The weather should never play a deciding role in your participation and loyalty.
    •  Even though it was cold, many turned out.
    •  I was a little disappointed to hear the work Republican at the rally. It was suppose to be for the American Way. We need to start a new party. Why cant we set up a place for the signatures of all NYers to sign a petition for a Constitutional Convention. That way maybe we can get some things on the ballot such as term limits. How do we go about it.
    •  Great bunch of enthusiastic people attended the meetup. Sound system needs to be improved and it seemed that the rally dragged out in front of the D & C for too long. Too many speakers!
    •  I was disappointed at the turn out, but it really wasn't a very nice day. I think the people who agree with us on restoring America's Republic are growing. I want to help this happen.
    •  Very meaningful experience. Felt good to be with others that see and know the truth. What we do not understand is, with 800 or so members in WSR. where were the rest of the group. This was an important nationwide rally and hope the media does not try to down play it as they usually do by stating there were a few kooks with signs.
    • Ingrid Mahoney (+1 guest)
It was uplifting to meet with people of the same mind and passion. It was unfortunate that it was so difficult to hear the speakers. Some were much louder and clearer than others. The political speeches got long and boring. The non campaign speeches were much more inspiring. We like to know who is running and what they stand for but we feel their remarks should be much briefer. My husband and I want to stay connected. Thanks for all your work!!
