As part of our ongoing effort to help candidates to present themselves and their positions on the issues to our group, WSR will be meeting with the following candidates for office:

Ann Marie Buerkle, running against Dan Maffei in the 25th District
Warren Redlich, running for governor of New York State (via Skype)

Please join us to meet these candidates.

Candidate vetting processes are a critical tool as we strive to choose candidates who agree with us on the 9/12 principals and values and to govern in ways that are in accordance with the U.S. Constitution.

For information about Mrs. Buerkle and her positions please go to http://www.buerklefor....

For information about Mr. Redlich and his positions please go to http://wredlich.com/n...

We need to ask our representatives to take a pledge or not. We need to find out RIGHT NOW if our representatives believe, support or reflect our principles and values and if they will not do so in their words they definitely will no do so in their actions and so then they are not supporting us. More importantly they are not supporting, protecting, or defending the constitution.

The Pledge - Do Candidates agree with these statements?

1. I believe in a balanced budget and therefore will vote for a freeze in government spending until that goal is realized.

2. I believe the government should not increase the financial burden on its citizenry during difficult economic times therefore I will oppose all tax increases until our economy has rebounded.

3 I believe more than four (4) decades of U.S. dependence on foreign oil is a travesty therefore I will support an energy plan that calls for immediately increasing usage of all domestic resources including nuclear energy, natural gas, and coal as necessary.

4. I believe in the sovereignty and security of our country and therefore will support measures to close our borders except for designated immigration points so we will know who is entering and why and I will vehemently oppose any measure giving another country, the United Nations, or any other entity, power over U.S. citizens.

5. I believe the United States of America is the greatest country on the earth and therefore will not apologize for policies or actions which have served to free more and feed more people around the world than any other nation on the planet.

We look forward to seeing you at this first Candidate vetting and are working to set up more in the future. 2010 is a very important election year.

    •  I enjoyed the event & found that the questions we asked were answered well..
    •  I learned a great deal about the process. I only wish I had gotten involved in the political process 20 years ago. I'm afraid that our political system is fraught with corruption and very resistant to change (kind of like a bad virus strain) so I believe we have a long up hill battle to right all the wrongs at the local, state and federal level. I believe we have to go after this with the same passion, fervor, and commitment as the opposition. As for me - I’m in it for the long haul for the sake of my children and grandson. I want to leave them best possible Country - Republic in the same way that my parents and grandparents did for me and my family. Through shared sacrifice! What say you?

Anne Marie seems like a great candidate for Congress. I would help her out. As for the man running for Governor, I'm not so sure. I would have to do more research.
    •  Unless I see the candidates sign a contract to do what they are SAY they are going to do - quite frankly, I don't actually believe anything they say. We've been burned too many times to fall for retoric. Did Brown ever explain his vote on the "jobs" bill? I can understand it IF his contituents overwhelmingly asked for him to vote for it, but we haven't seen any proof of that. I appreciate the venue and the fact these candidates were willing to spend the time to answer our questions. I also appreciate one not promising with bloviated rhetoric what they think their audiences want to hear. However, I am glad I came to the event and will attend more.
    •  Loved Ann Marie and Warren- These are the kind of people we are looking for.
    •  I was disappointed that Mrs. Buerkle spoke like an attorney (Redlich did not and he was much more interesting and engaging). What some considered her 'honest answers', were to me - no answers. She is giving the same safe, generic reply all the candidates are giving in this particular election. She committed to nothing and promised nothing. If our vetting process is to have any effect, we must find people who WILL commit to our values and principles without apology. I don't think her 'word' is good enough because she gave us nothing to hold her to. Isn't that the purpose of the 912/ tea party movement? To find people with enough fortitude that they WILL promise and commit to honor the Constitution without hesitation, fancy words or excuses? Mark Bitz may be a businessman who is used to being in a position of leadership but at least he isn't a lawyer trained to find loopholes through elaborate interpretation, nor does he use ambiguous disclaimers about being new to the game.
