As part of our ongoing effort to help candidates to present themselves and their positions on the issues to our group, WSR will be meeting with the following candidates for office:
Tom Reed, who was running against Eric Massa in the 29th District, until his resignation; and who is favored to win a special election if it is called.
Lenny Roberto who is running for the 59th NYS Senate District.
Please join us to meet these candidates.
Candidate vetting processes are a critical tool as we strive to choose candidates who agree with us on the 9/12 principals and values and to govern in ways that are in accordance with the U.S. Constitution.
For information about Mr. Reed and his positions please go to www.citizens4reed.com
For information about Mr. Roberto and his positions please go to www.friendsofroberto.com
We need to ask our representatives to take a pledge or not. We need to find out RIGHT NOW if our representatives believe, support or reflect our principles and values and if they will not do so in their words they definitely will no do so in their actions and so then they are not supporting us. More importantly they are not supporting, protecting, or defending the constitution.
The Pledge - Do Candidates agree with these statements?
1. I believe in a balanced budget and therefore will vote for a freeze in government spending until that goal is realized.
2. I believe the government should not increase the financial burden on its citizenry during difficult economic times therefore I will oppose all tax increases until our economy has rebounded.
3 I believe more than four (4) decades of U.S. dependence on foreign oil is a travesty therefore I will support an energy plan that calls for immediately increasing usage of all domestic resources including nuclear energy, natural gas, and coal as necessary.
4. I believe in the sovereignty and security of our country and therefore will support measures to close our borders except for designated immigration points so we will know who is entering and why and I will vehemently oppose any measure giving another country, the United Nations, or any other entity, power over U.S. citizens.
5. I believe the United States of America is the greatest country on the earth and therefore will not apologize for policies or actions which have served to free more and feed more people around the world than any other nation on the planet.
We look forward to seeing you at this second Candidate vetting and are working to set up more in the future. 2010 is a very important election year.

Had a great time meeting with candidates. Questions were excellent. Both candidates
Were candid in their answers. I was very impressed with Mr Roberto's passion.
I am not in their districts but will support them in their efforts for election
I would agree with everyone's comments , I would hope that
Mr Reed could be even more passionate like Mr. Roberto.
I believe that Mr.Reed gave reasonable answers to the questions that came up in the discussion area (Think twice about Tom Reed ) I wish both Candidates the best and
Mr Roberto is running for my districts State Senators office.
I would be willing to help him out if need be . Those that had to leave before Mr.Roberto started speaking you really missed out on a Man with a mission
Ugh...wait monday? SOB...
I think both men were talking straight with us. Perhaps the members of WSR should write to demand that the vote on Health Care be postponed until the 29th District becomes represented. Lenny Roberto is passionate about his mission to put this state back on track - loved it.
I like the 50 freshmen movement. No one Canidate can fix anything in Albany or DC. We have all seen canidates get chewed up, and it looks different after it is chewed!
Mr Leonard Roberto has agreed to be vetted at 7:00pm
He will be in Buffalo at 5:00pm doing another political
stop ,but will be here . He's running for the 59th State Senate
District against incumbent Senator Volker .
