I attended the first Tea Party in the spring and was glad I did. I thought it was important to be there and express another voice that I was fed up with state and federal government.

My husband has the day off and we will try and be there. I will bring my Fife. I can play some patriotic songs like Jefferson & Liberty, Wahington's Artillary (Spirit of 76), and others if you would like. Rose

Just wanted to apologize for my negative-sounding assessment of the Tea Party... wasn't meant to sound that way. I enjoyed seeing the large number of people turn out for this event. Ialso like the different groups there, all joining together with like ideas... all in all, I think it was a HUGE success !!!

Nice family-friendly and welcoming event. Beginning with a reverent invocation, color guard, & national anthem is an appropriate start. I think most of us agree with Mike K. that individual rights ARE being lost, the economy is a HUGE issue & especially since another Stimulus is being discussed! People need to be educated that capitalism grows the economy and is not the enemy. These are things we agree on as Americans and we are now under the obligation to strategize and change! Together!

As far as the 9/11 guys, I would like to thank the WSR guys who took the time to see where they were coming from and talk to them in an appropriate manner. I don't know the outcome but they were voicing their opinions whether or not we agreed with them. Special thanks to the guys who cared enough to talk to them and make them feel welcome. He took off his gas mask and they put their signs down. Maybe they will consider some of the things they were educated about by those stalwart WSR guys.

Great time had by all. I was pleased with the number of patriots who were able to join us on a Friday evening of a holiday weekend. I think we did a great job getting our message out and I think that our numbers show it. I was very excited to play "teacher" for the event. It made me realize how much I missed teaching. Thanks for being such great students!!

Need to do more advance prep/ advertising for meetings. We need to grow the base and increase numbers of concerned folks.

I'm loving the input of everyone about the event... very solid views. We will be talking about all of this at the Council Meeting on Saturday. You have totally been heard. Now folks, take those thoughts, and let's discuss them on the Boards. Thanks to everyone for the hard work and great effort. I thought we knocked it out of the ball park for our real goals... introduce some people to WSR, network with other area groups, educate and motivate people, bond our group moving forward. I personally didn't expect 1,000 people, or media hype, etc. I loved the family atmosphere. Seeing such interest in the WSR info, cards, Tshirts, etc. Man, yellow shirts everywhere! I saw lots of new faces, lots of different people...young families, hip young folks, etc. And it's intangible, but I thought it was a great vibe... people liked being there, liked working together... we continue to prove we are able to work together and pull things off... now on to the next step.

Thought it was a good meetup except for the guy walking around the shelter wearing a gas mask & holding a sign that said 911 was an inside job. I know you can't control who attends these meetups, but I don't think that is the kind of publicity you want.

We did a great job of coming together and focusing on common ground. Speakers from the Libertarian and Constitution parties, 9-12, Primary Challenge, Campaign For Liberty, and others did a great job of uniting us against the political elites which have brought about our current economic decline. Charles Eames spoke movingly about the need to declare independence from party politics. It's time to Re-Declare Our Independence, and we did just that.
  • Mary Jean Gutberlet
Was hoping for more people. question : how to get more people involved. Met about 10 friends there.
  • Linda Lee
I think the vets should have been acknowledged. I think the event itself was very successful. A lot of positive energy. We should stay away from name calling. The T-shirt man should have been there earlier. Everyone kept asking where they could get tee shirts. I loved the cards and bookmarks also great idea. well organized.

Great to see a good sized crowd.

Upon arriving I had no problem hearing the prayer. At that point we were outside. When we went into the pavilion to sit down things seemed disorganized. I did not realize that John or anyone else had started speaking. Once the speakers were adjusted I could hear what was being said. There is one thing I would suggest be changed in the future. T-shirts, books, etc. that were either for sale or being given out were right in the back. The noise from the back tables was very distracting. Perhaps next time they could be located in another area. Close enough but not so close that it distracts from the speakers up front.

Erik did a wonderful job of organizing, and the table with sign-up information, voter registration, petition to sign and more was a great idea. There was opportunity to meet lots of people, and there was something for everyone. It's too bad we couldn't get more publicity, but I know people tried. Someday the media will catch on!

I saw and spoke with people who participated on the 3/11 and 4/15 Tea Parties, but there were also folks who showed up who haven't done anything like this before and there were quite a few of them. That's a good thing as word is getting out about us and people are joining us! It was also an interesting "alliance" of organizations who participated and I'd like to work more with them (except for the "truthers" who were there).

An awesome , inspiring experience. I can only hope the fire catches hold and more and more citizens become involved.

Impressive turn out in light of the holiday weekend. Weather held off, and I do believe everyone there enjoyed meeting old friends and neighbors.

Wife and I made it, carried our Gadsden Flag, enjoyed the speakers and met with other Wayne County(315ers) Patriots. We both bought T-shirts and will wear them with pride. I liked the attention/praise given to veterans - -a "stand up" for all veterans would be nice at the next Party. We thank the organizers, Jiggs and Nancy Wolcott, NY

We must keep the meetup more positive. There was too much "preaching to the choir". We all came there knowing that the current status of things is not acceptable. Too many speeches.

I thought it went great. Although, I would have hoped that their was less religion and more politics. I especially enjoyed the speech by the chaplain, his take on unions, equality and general government was well received. This a coalition of MANY groups allied basically on economic issues. Bringing gay marriage, abortion and government mandated religion into it cheapens the entire experience and to be honest pushes A LOT of people away, especially the young. I should know since me and about 5 other young people spoke about it while there and agreed that this strongly discouraged us, I am POSITIVE I was not alone.. Stick to political issues our different groups share positions on such as Private property, Individual rights, economics, free enterprise and capitalism. Keep Jesus, Allah and the rest of the pantheon in your personal lives.
  • Joe&Joy
The speeches were very good, I had expected more people, but a good start at this stage. The experience itself was about what I expected. All in all I thought it was good.
  • Lisa Hoffmaster
Enjoyed being around like-minded Americans and appreciated the info given out at individual tables. Also, I appreciated the leaders, speakers and organizers. Slightly disappointed at the crowd size, but I do have to keep in mind that this was not announced on WHAM (as far as I know).

It was a lot of great speeches. Tremendous heart and an attempt to rally people to get up and do something. It did lack in calling people to the different groups and offering them something to sink their teeth into.

I would suggest early on a parade of those with signs and costumes so they can be seen well. Some people put a lot of work into them. We have done a lot of venting--now we need strategies, too. There should be a press presence--but, if there is, the really way out signs, etc. should go--that is what the Bush haters did--we cannot persuade voters to our side if we pillory the person they voted for. I think we need a more specific focus to complain about. We should be getting together a posted list of politicians around the country we support. I think petitions should have only one topic--I couldn't sign it because there were some topics that I had a different opinion about. I, for one, am also wary of signing anything like that while Napolitano is still head of Homeland Security. I think we could be put on various lists including ones that would make getting on airplanes difficult--she is a piece of work.

The energy shown was invigorating to me. I liked the diversity of people and thought. But theoverall goal of everyone who spoke (or whom I talked with) was the same. "Take Back our Nation", "Liberty", get back to the founder's beliefs, support the constitution, vote the incumbents out and write, call and email your representatives. I personally gained a great deal from it. My self confidence has increased. I feel more comfortable being an activist. All of the speakers were great, but I think there should have been fewer of them. People were getting restless and some left before it was over. I am also very dissapointed in out local media. Although press releases were sent out, there was not a single representative of any media there.

WE ALL need to call the news media and find out why they did not report the event. Maybe if there were enough calls , they would have to report this.

I really liked the TEA Party. I brought my 11 year old son and I thought it showed him a great civic lesson. If you don't fight for your rights, you'll lose them. I was very inspired by the speakers and I really liked the pastor who did the invocation. That should be a constant at all TEA parties. I was also very pleased to see people from all walks of life and age groups. Good job!

The Prayer at the beginning with the Reverand was too much. I liked to small group connection a lot. I can't wait for the next one. I can't wait until November 2010. Hopefully we the Americans are still standing.

It's to bad it was held on the Holiday Weekend. I think there would have been more people in attendance if it had been at another time
  • Kevin Woodruff
Sort of hard to hear the speakers due to the echo of the large number of people talking during the speeches. Seemed to start thinning out between 7:30 and 8:00. Somehow it seemed to lose the intensity that it started with....

This was our first event and it was an exhilarating experience. The atmosphere was electric. The speakers were sensational!! We thought it was well organized.

The space alloted for number of attendees is too small. I find myself learning things from every one I talk to and listen to. There is so much to learn about our government that you never hear on network news. More than a hundred new people joined the 9/12 group and all were interested in learning and doing more, buying shirts, books. It inspires me, since for so long I thought no one cared or even noticed that our America was slipping away. I am feel a part of something wonderful!
  • Heidi C.
I wish you all had acknowledged the veterans in attendance, rather than just the flag bearers and Woody. I am pretty sure there were other Afghan vets and even Irag vets there....just a personal preference.
