Below you will see an email I received today from Organizing for America. This is the organization that Barack started during his campaign. They want people to make videos, poke fun at those of us who disagree with them and state facts. Funny thing is, they don't actually provide any facts in the email. In fact, not even a link to 'their facts'. Heh, got a video camera, go for it and make up some facts while you are at it!
Worse, they do inform people about those that disagree with Barack's plan are " lying pundits and the insurance company spin doctors". They do state, "there are an awful lot of lies to cut through". NO RESPECT for America, where people should have free speech and be respected. Instead the President's propaganda machine sees it fit to ridicule those that disagree with him with some funny videos. Great, the country elected a president, but instead got a comedian and a Youtube film producer. I have a few stories about how our health care system helped my family in a big way, even when money was tight. Guess they don't want those facts, just need those sad stories that makes them look right, because the rest of us, we're just liars. Here is the email: In many ways, the fight for health insurance reform comes down to a battle over information. The more people know about how broken the system is and the President's plan to fix it, the more they want change. But there are an awful lot of lies to cut through, and a whole lot of truth to get out. So today, we're proud to announce a powerful new way for you to help: Organizing for America's Health Reform Video Challenge. This is your chance -- you ingenious, insightful, funny people out there -- to make a 30-second ad telling the story about why the status quo has got to go, or explaining how the Obama plan will ensure we get the secure, quality care we need without breaking the budget. The top submissions will be voted on by the public and a panel of experts, with the winning ad aired on national television. This is your opportunity to add your voice and creativity to the debate, get some great exposure for your work, and make a huge difference. Click here to get started. No experience is needed -- if you have an idea, we want you to give it a shot. And if you know someone who is especially handy with a camera, please forward this note along right away. Just make sure you submit your ad by October 18th. Your video could be as simple as you talking straight into the camera, as complex as a full-blown production with a script and special effects, or anything in between. We're looking for serious videos: You can tell your personal story about how the broken health insurance system has affected you. You can illustrate the big picture about what's wrong now and how the President's plan will help with animations, charts, and facts. We're looking for funny videos: You can parody those trying to scare us into inaction (between the lying pundits and the insurance company spin doctors, they've given us some good stuff to work with). And we're looking for new ideas we never would have thought of but we know will blow us all away. We know that compelling videos can touch people in a way that words alone simply cannot. The messages that regular people put together will make a bigger difference than any false smears or slick ads the other side can dream up. And who knows -- your creative, powerful, or touching video could help tip the balance in favor of health reform. So go get started today! http://my.barackobama... I can't wait to see what you come up with, Natalie Natalie Foster New Media Director NOW, why would her title be New Media Director? Is she new, or do we need humor and youtube to train America into thinking their way? Hmmmm, guess reporting facts is old media. |

As a registered Democrat, I received this email as well. I, also, got a phone call from them this afternoon. They were trying to deliver their propaganda over the phone. I led them on so I could find out what they were saying. I said that I was worried about a public option because it would lead to rationing of care. The woman on the phone said that would not happen. She offered no facts or figures to support that statement.
I asked about the threatened elimination of Medicare Advantage. She couldn't answer that one so she has promised to send me an email with a link to a website that she said would explain away that concern. I haven't received it yet. When I do, I'll post it. It concerns me that they are putting forth this coordinated effort. I hope they don't somehow manage to convince a whole bunch of people with their propaganda! |

Great post... good insider info. I'm so glad you all are here and active!
PS: You may already know this, but 'New Media' is just the buzzword for promoting things through the Internet, YouTube, Twitter, Social Networking on the web, texting, etc... Not so much 'What TV newscasters do is 'old' now' or investigative journalism kind of 'media' is old... but more in the TV vs. Internet is Old vs. New Media... make sense? Old Media: Phone Tree New Media: Text message Blast to supporters Old Media: Have one $200,000 video produced for your cause New Media: Have 2000 videos made for free and posted to YouTube by your supporters Old Government: Feel it's below your office to ask people to create propaganda for your socialist programs New Government: Actually give them grants through the NEA to do it!! I know this isn't really the point of your message, but you know, I do think seeing why they are doing things this way is instructive... KenH Edited by Ken H on Sep 26, 2009 10:38 PM |

Ken,
Thank you for the explanation. I now feel 10 years older not knowing what new media is. I do understand it and even though we are essentially doing the same on this site, it is bothersome. It seems that people can easily be influenced by this type of media which may contain drips of truth and lot's of personal sensationalism. It is important to understand this method, so that we can understand how to continually respond to it. |

Thanks for posting this information. It can be rather overwhelming to see how the progressive socialists have been indoctrinating us for more than 30 years in oh so subtle ways and that the youth today are so immersed in technology that they breath it. Some of the boomers are with it in terms of the technology, but a lot are not. So, they are left to get their news through MSM sources. I can't tell you how much progressivism is pushed in universities as I have recently gone back to school and am shocked by how pervasive it is. As conservatives, we have been too trusting and civil in the past, least we be called racists or fascists, or any number of "names" called from the left.
What is frightening to me, is how skillful the progressive have been with not only "re-writing" history but "re-defining" the English language. And how readily people and the media buys into it. So the glimmer of hope here is that we are waking up... and we are now challenged to educate other about what is going on, so that they too will wake up. I walk every day with a friend and she is liberal... and although she is open to talking about issues, she always does a tit for tat come back ... because the conservatives have been as complicit and corrupt as the liberals ... but, we the people, need to get into the trenches and do work to become better at making our case, because is it oh, so hard to find the truth in the garbage being promoted on the web, on t.v. in books and movies ... especially when some of the nonsense being spewed is well-funded and very professional looking. And this email that you posted is outrageous... just more evidence how the Obama administration is executing a master plan to transform us into an socialistic oligarchy! A well planned media blitz of dis-information in such a professional manner... I am a "new media" person and see so much propaganda being vomited out by so-called "artists" and new media designers today... it really makes me sick... plus, so much artwork is anti-capitalistic and anti-religious... The video that Glenn Beck played on his show last week called "The Story of Stuff" was something that I saw last winter in school. I had it up to my eye balls with all the "collectivism" crap and am disturbed by the number of students are in it's spell... and when one of the student's posted this link I couldn't believe how much propaganda was in it. Funny that it was picked up by Beck last week. Why, we were made to read books on design that basically promoted anarchy in corporations... I definitely was in the minority... I am thinking there is a great big wide world out there for me as a conservative artist/designer/new media person... I can make things look professional... so if anyone has an idea for a project, I'd be interested in collaborating! I also am a web designer... so if any one would like some advice on how to set up a blog, etc. I would be happy to help you navigate the technology... Just thought I would offer this up ... as this is a grass roots movement without the big bucks of Soros and Co.... Maybe there are a few of us techno-geeks who could put our heads together and come up with some creative strategies to combat some of the proliferation of crap. |
