Pres. Obama was just on CSPAN citing the support of AARP as a guarantee of the proposed Health Care Plan's benefit to senior citizens.
That endorsement just rankles me to no end. Is AARP perhaps needing of a 'can you hear me now'? Older 912ers especially welcomed? this siteAARP Locator put up these two Rochester branches: Chapter Name: Southeast Monroe Chapter Number: 003307 Meeting Place: 220 IDLEWOOD RD ROCHESTER, NY 14618-3927 Meeting Days: 3rd Wednesday Meeting Times: 01:00PM Closed During: Jun Jul Aug Chapter Name: Northwest Chapter Number: 003498 Meeting Place: 1 VINCE TOFANY BLVD GREECE, NY 14612-5016 Meeting Days: 3rd Friday Meeting Times: 01:30PM Closed During: Jul Aug Does anyone know if these are actual AARP offices? I did not see a listing in the white pages. Third Wednesday is 11/18. Third Friday is 11/20. Do you think this issue might still be unresolved that far out? (My gut says yes. They have been pushing this since July. Their feet must be even colder now.) |

CWL, I just saw that myself! Grrr.... I immediately wrote to some sr. I know. I remember there was an alternative to AARP recently, more conservative, but it'd be great to have Sr. drop AARP for something that represents them better.
I loved how O left before the reporter asked O if HE was going to support the bill. Let me tell you something...the reason O showed up and did that was because of the PATRIOTS in DC. This is nothing new, AARP and AMA have supposedly been giving their support of HC O just used today to spew more drivel. The seniors in our group, your help is needed once again! Please, if you have people you know who feel the way you do about govt healthcare, please burn those phone lines at AARP and demand they openly rescind their support for gvt heathcare AND pull your support by cancelling your membership. Get the word out! |

AARP didn't surprise. I do wonder if the AMA has a death wish.

Many of the AARP members who quit the organization in August went to the '60 Plus Association.' I don't know anything about them other than having seen interviews with their folks and people who went to them.
I heard somewhere on the radio today that the the Medicare + / Insurance are through other companies and offered by AARP. So dropping the insurance products isn't necessary. Edited by Wendy T. on Nov 5, 2009 5:43 PM |

Already canceled my AARP membership this past summer. How this organization can support a plan that will ration care for the elderly (which of course are the ones using more of the services) is beyond me. The way other countries keep the costs down, is using health protocols (rationing care) that doctors and hospitals will have to follow. It doesn't make sense to think we are going to be able to cover more people, for less money and we are all going to get better health care then we are getting now. But then again, it's not about health care, its about controlling people's lives and what better way to do that, then for the government to tell your doctor what medications/treatments (protocols) are cost efficient considering your age and prognosis.

That is because AARP sells the Medicaire GAP insurance. Don't seniors see what is happening here. The organization created to protect and serve the seniors is throwing them under the bus in the name of the all mighty $$$$ they should be ashamed of themselves!!!
Please people if you are seniors out there or if you really understand what AARP is doing supporting this bill then spread the word.. The only way we will defeat this Tyranical regime is by educating the masses. IT STARTS NOW!!! |
